K-2 Assembly presented by 1/2V

There will be a Years K-2 Assembly hosted by 1/2V on 3rd April at 2:15PM. Parents and Carers of the presenting class are welcome to attend.

Years 3-6 Cross-Country Carnival

Date: 07 April
Time: 9:05-11:00 AM
Location: Alexandria Park Oval

All students are expected to participate to earn house points, encourage school spirit and to qualify for zone. Students unable to run the distance can walk if they choose. Year 2 students who are turning or have turned 8 this year may attend the carnival if they wish to qualify for the South Sydney PSSA Zone Cross Country Carnival. Year 3-6 students will attend. Students will compete in the age range that they are turning THIS year (even if they have not had their birthday yet). parents have been emailed a permission note via SchoolBytes. 8, 9, 10 year olds will run 2000m (2km). 11, 12 year olds will run 3000m (3km). There is no cost involved. IMPORTANT NOTE: If your child is unable to participate for medical reasons, or has additional medical information specific for the day please indicate below and email your child's teacher. WET WEATHER: In the event of wet weather, a decision will be made by 8:20am and parents will be notified by an SMS if cancelled. A notification will also be put on Facebook and the APCS website, and the carnival will be postponed until Friday May 2nd.

Year 12 Parent Teacher Night

Please save the date for Year 12 Parent/Teacher Interviews on Tuesday 8th April. These will be face-to-face at APCS from 3:10PM-6:10PM. Further information including how to book your times will be sent to parents and carers shortly.

K-2 Cross-Country Carnival

Date: 08 April
Time: 9:30-11:10 AM
Location: Alexandria Parl oval

Alexandria Park Community School will be holding a Cross Country Carnival event on Tuesday 8th April at Alexandria Park Oval. Students compete in the age range that they are turning THIS year (even if they have not had their birthday yet). K-2 students will begin at 9:30am and finish at approximately 11.10am for Lunch 1. Kindergarten will run 2 laps, Year 1 will run 3 laps and Year 2 (who haven’t turned 8) will run 4 laps. Year 2 students who are turning, or have turned 8 this year will attend the 3-6 carnival. There are no costs involved; however, this permission note is to be returned to your class teacher as soon as possible. A permission note has been emailed to parents via SchoolBytes. All students are expected to participate and can walk the distance if they choose. Students are invited to wear their house colours on the day to show support for their team. Students must bring a drink bottle, hat and lunch. *The canteen will be operating as normal* Wet Weather: In the case of wet weather, a decision will be made by 8:20am and parents will be notified by an SMS if cancelled. A notification sent out and the carnival will be postponed until Tuesday 6th May.

Big Dig Archaeology Education Program

Location: The Big Dig Archaeology Education Centre 110 Cumberland Street, Sydney NSW 2000

How do historians and archaeologists investigate the past? What types of questions do they ask? What ethical issues are involved in the excavation, conservation and interpretation of a site? This full day (9.30am – 2.15pm) program incorporates all components of the Groundwork: Archaeology at The Big Dig program with additional visits to two other sites in The Rocks. Parents of Stage 6 Ancient History students will have been emailed a SchoolBytes link to give permission for their child to attend together with a request for payment of $26.

Sage 1 Taronga Zoo Excursion

Date: 10 April

Location: Taronga Zoo

A visit to Taronga Zoo for Stage 1 students studying living things allows them to observe various animal species and their habitats, enhancing their understanding of how living things depend on each other and their environment (ST1-4LW-S). The experience also promotes inquiry skills by encouraging students to ask questions and make observations (ST1-1WS-S), while fostering environmental awareness about the interactions between living and non-living things (ST1-6ES-S) Itinerary 9.30 am - Board bus. 10 am - Arrive at zoo, enter & have crunch & sip. 10.15 am to 12.00 pm - Self guided tour. 12.00 pm to 1.00 pm - Lunch & play. 1.00 pm to 1.45 pm - Continue self guided tour walking back to entrance. 2.00 pm - Board bus. 2.40 pm - Return to school. Parents of affected students have been emailed a permission note via SchoolBytes together with a request for payment of $35.
