Selective stream
Selective high schools are one of the ways that the department supports high potential and gifted students. These are students whose intellectual potential exceeds that of students of the same age.
Benefits of attending a selective high school includes:
- Enhanced learning – Specialised teaching methods that help students to learn at a faster pace and explore concepts in greater depth.
- Peer interaction – Students can learn and make friends with like-minded peers.
- Academic and social growth – Research shows that students benefit both academically and socially when they learn alongside classmates with similar abilities.
You can apply to selective high schools outside your local area. For more information about the placement test, application process and Fair Access, visit Selective high schools and opportunity classes.
